WTF was this all about last night? Around 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, with the game already well out of hand, where is Duncan? He is sitting next to his coach on the sidelines pouting like an 8-year-old who didn’t get his candy bar. I picked San Antonio to win the Championship in November becase I saw a fire in Duncan that I had not seen in recent years. I have a lot of respect for what Duncan brings to the floor. I do not judge a players abilities based on entertainment value. I judge a player based on what happens on the floor. Last night, plain and simple, Duncan acted like someone took his lollipop. Instead of getting fired up, motivating himself to at least finish the game strong, take it into Sundays game, little Timmy opted to sit on the bench next to his Daddy and be comforted. I can hear Popovich now: "It is going to be ok Timmy, we are going home real soon". And, "Timmy, please don’t cry. Be a big boy, look at all these people, you don’t want them to look at a crybaby do you?" I have always stood up for Tim, when others have questioned his heart, his effort. For the first time I am the one questioning him. Maybe Ben Wallace put some estrogen pills in Tim’s locker like in Sandler’s remake of The Longest Yard? Well, the NBA is thinking about display advertisements on uniforms (like NASCAR drivers). Maybe Timmy could sport a nice big Pampers patch!
